Just some things I’ve gotten via email from people I wanted to share.
First, a nice quick one from Gerry:
Next, I’m never a big fan of winter (or cold weather for that matter). We have been getting some really cold nights of late but thankfully we avoided getting what my cousin (who lives further up in New York) got: 16 inches of snow before Halloween! Still her pics do look pretty:
and:
This is a draft from way, way back on Halloween of 2008!
I don’t talk to Gerry anymore. I met him through a person I don’t have any contact with but the funny thing is that someone who started at work in the last year is a good friend of his and I passed along greetings to him even though we haven’t had contact.
Poor Gerry, when you talk about someone having a rough life he’s the epitome of that having three children two of which suffer from Autism and really working hard to make ends meet. Gerry is extremely talented too! Thing is he worked in comics and even though his work was really great when work dries up a lot of times people who work in comics don’t have anything to fall back on.
Some folks, they’re real lucky and very successful but it doesn’t happen as often as one thinks.
I just find that a shame because of how very talented Gerry is. At one point in time I had given Gerry a big metal flat file I had and he made the most wonderful gift to me of two pages from an issue of Power Man/Iron Fist he had worked on which I told him were some of my favorites but he also made me promise never to sell them which is a promise I have kept!
As far as the photos go? My cousin isn’t even that house anymore.
She moved far away when she moved to that house, a remote self built cabin on a mountain upstate. They built another cabin, sold both and then absconded for Tennessee. There’s a picture lying around somewhere of the two of us as children and we don’t look like cousins at all, we look like brother and sister.
There was a rift awhile back internally between her and her sisters and it was a lesson in what a parent should NOT do when they have more than one child because things became so acrimonious over money and who thought they should get what.
I can’t help but think if my uncle had still been around he would have quashed it all in short order but no one ever filled that vacuum after he was gone.
